This webinar was created for providers, but all are welcome. In this free webinar, Dr. Kremer will overview military culture and its impact on veteran mental health. The lens of military culture can shapes not only the veterans approach to treatment, but also how the symptoms manifest in their life. It will look at several common diagnoses, such as major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and substance use disorder, and discuss symptoms presentations that are common in veterans. It will also touch on treatment considerations for this population to allow us understand how to better treat those who have served our country.

About the presenter: Dr. Melissa Kremer earned her Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the Adler University in 2012, with a concentration in trauma psychology. She completed her doctoral internship at the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Her research, clinical interests and areas of expertise include trauma psychology, military psychology, end of life concerns and evidence-based psychotherapies for PTSD. She is currently PTSD Clinical Team provider at the Boise VAMC, and has been there since 2011. She also serves as the Telemental Health(TMH) lead for Boise Behavioral Health, and provides training and consultation around TMH for providers. She volunteers with several organizations in the Treasure Valley.
