Committees

Interested in Participating on an IMA Committee?

The IMA Board of Trustees have made the commitment to expand opportunities for members to become more involved and participate in the IMA. With that in mind, we are seeking interested individuals to contribute to the continued growth and success of the association.

IMA committees accomplish important work in many different areas as you can see from the list below. This is your opportunity to share your expertise and experience! As a committee member, you will devote time, energy, and ideas to lead IMA projects and programs forward, and in turn, support our efforts on behalf of you and your patients.

IMA Foundation Committee

Keith Davis, MD, President

The IMA Foundation is the 501(c)3 arm of the Idaho Medical Association that was formed to continue and expand on our long history of support for medical education, residency training and retention of practicing physicians in Idaho. The IMA Foundation supports the pipeline of physician workforce in our state through fundraising and awarding of scholarships and grants.

The Foundation’s goals are to:

• Support Idaho medical education and residency training through individual scholarships and organizational contributions
• Support loan repayment and other activities to recruit and encourage physicians to practice in Idaho
• Support and provide resources for practicing physicians to improve the quality and accessibility of healthcare for Idaho patients

Meets 2-3 times per year.

Idaho Medical Political Action Committee

Bill Woodhouse, MD, Chair

IMPAC is the bi-partisan, political arm of the IMA. IMPAC Board members develop fundraising strategies to encourage physician PAC membership. The IMPAC Board determines the number and amount of contributions to candidates for the Idaho Legislature and statewide offices, with a preference for candidates who are friends of medicine and demonstrate support for physician issues.

Meets 3-4 times per year.

IMA Financial Services Advisory Board

Chair - Ongoing rotation of current board members

IMA Financial Services (IMAFS) Advisory Board provides oversight and guidance for IMAFS financial advisors and products/services offered. IMAFS provides financial, retirement and tax planning services at a discounted rate for IMA members.

Meets 2 times per year.

Physician Recovery Network

Willis Parmley, MD, Chair

The Physician Recovery Network (PRN) was formed in 1986 with the support of the IMA House of Delegates. The PRN committee consists of volunteer physician members, one physician assistant and one lay person located throughout Idaho. The PRN was created to help any Idaho physician or physician assistant who is impaired as a result of addiction, cognitive or mental health problems. The program's primary mission is to protect the public from unsafe practice by impaired professionals. The PRN provides a network of trained physicians and other healthcare professionals to aid in confidential investigations of alleged physician impairment and, when appropriate, conduct interventions and coordinate placement in a treatment program. The PRN develops and coordinates an individualized long-term monitored recovery program for each physician.

Meets 2 times per year, although the program is staffed 24/7 365 days a year.

Public Health Committee

Laura McGeorge, MD, Chair

As a committee under the Idaho Medical Association, the IMA Public Health Committee is focused on providing Idahoans with timely and accurate public health information. The IMA Public Health Committee will serve as a trusted source of guidance to the public from practicing medical professionals across the Idaho communities. Through the IMA, the committee will deliver up to date public health information that is clear, accessible, and scientifically based. The committee’s collaborative work will be guided by a mission to create a healthier Idaho to supplement the broader work of the IMA.

Meets 1-2 times per year.

Executive Committee

Steven Kohtz, MD, Chair

The Executive Committee holds decision-making authority between Board meetings. It is comprised of the presidential officers, treasurer and trustees from districts not represented by the officers.
