IMA Legislative Program

The IMA Legislative Program combines a grassroots physician advocacy program with the efforts of contract lobbyists and the IMA government relations team. Provided here is a list of the current legislative program leadership team and a description of the numerous legislative activities conducted by the IMA.

IMA members are encouraged to contact any team member with a question regarding politics, policy, legislation or legislators.

Activities of the IMA Grassroots Legislative Program:

Fall Meetings - In the Fall of each year, the IMA conducts regional meetings with legislators and their physician constituents.  These meetings are held in Coeur d’Alene, Lewiston, Nampa/Caldwell, Boise, Twin Falls, Pocatello, and Idaho Falls.  In a typical year, 50 to 60 legislators attend these meetings to learn about the IMA legislative agenda for the upcoming legislative session.  These meetings are a great opportunity for legislators and the physicians in their communities to get to know each other.  It is important that physicians are able to offer themselves as a resource to legislators as they work on healthcare policy issues for the state.

Legislative Reports - The IMA publishes weekly Legislative Reports every Friday during the session. Click
here to access the most recent issue(s) of the report.  These reports offer insights on IMA lobbying activities and the current status of various pieces of legislation as they move through the legislative process.

IMPAC – The Idaho Medical Political Action Committee is an active state PAC that is led by IMA members who, along with input from the IMA Government Relations Team, make decisions on political contributions and endorsements that support legislators and other statewide elected officials.  Recipients are generally on the healthcare policy committees, are in legislative leadership, or are otherwise able to make a positive impact on healthcare in Idaho.
