The IMA Alliance (IMAA)
Purposes
The purposes of the Idaho Medical Association Alliance are exclusively educational
and charitable:
- To assist the medical profession of the State of Idaho with programs that
improve the health and quality of life for all people.
- To promote health education.
- To support health-related charitable endeavors.
Chapter Activities
The Idaho Medical Association Alliance (IMAA) is comprised of chapters organized
geographically throughout the State. Currently there are these six active county
alliances:
Kootenai-Benewah
Southeast Idaho (Pocatello area)
Southwest Idaho (Twin Falls area)
Burley-Rupert
Nampa-Caldwell
Idaho Falls
The six active alliances are involved in numerous local and national service
projects including:
- SAVE TODAY billboard program – Alliance funds have paid for
10 billboards displayed throughout Idaho that carry the important message
“Stop America’s Violence Everywhere.”
- Adult Health Literacy – IMAA chapters promote patient-physician
communication to improve healthcare results by creating a shame-free environment
for functionally illiterate adults, providing help completing medical forms,
and encouraging these patients to bring all medications and a family member
or friend to physician appointments.
The AMA Alliance
IMAA members also participate in the Alliance of the American Medical Association.
The AMA Alliance is:
- A nationwide network of physicians’ spouses.
- A resource for physicians’ families.
- A volunteer organization committed to improving the public health.
- A source of financial support for medical students ($1 million annually)
- An organization providing opportunities for leadership.
